Weather, Access and COVID permitting we run Club Night rides from April to October.

Our goal is to keep everyone out on Club Nights safe and happy so there are a few rules we need all participants to follow. Please read through the lists below and ensure you’re ready to ride by 5:45 PM.

Personal Safety Requirements:

  • Full face off-road helmet

  • Proper riding boots

  • Knee pads

  • Elbow pads

  • Chest protector

  • Eye protection

  • Sturdy gloves

  • Camelback or hydration system

Legal Riding Requirements:

  • Insurance

  • Registration with an attached license plate

  • Reasonably quiet muffler

  • Headlight

  • Taillight

Riders need more than just basic riding skills to attend a Club Night.

If you can do the following, you’re ready:

  • You can start your own bike.

  • You can safely operate the throttle, brake and clutch.

  • You can start on an uphill after your bike stalls most of the time.

  • You can pick your own bike up most of the time?

  • You can sustain two to three hours of constant activity.

Endurance is the key on Club Night. Make sure your cardio is up to grade and you can pick your bike up when you’re tired. Be prepared to stay hydrated and have a great night sleep after the ride. You’ll be tired.

Besides these laws, we also recommend the following equipment:

  • knobby tires (this is not a suggestion, but rather a requirement)

  • wrap around hand guards

  • case savers/skid plate

  • radiator guards

Special Note: If your bike weighs more than 300lbs you will most likely struggle to keep up .

Club Night - RMDRA members are people who love to ride single-track motorcycle trails and ensure those trails are available for future riders. Club Night is an evening where we unite to do what we do best: build skills, repair trails, build community and ride!

Trail Captain - The person organizing the night. This person is in charge of logistics, sign up, riders meeting/demos, and ensuring everyone returns safely. If you’re interested in becoming a Trail Captain, you’ll need to start as a Trail Navigator first.

Trail Navigator - Anyone given specific training on riding obstacles, trail maintenance, choosing specific trail loops, and ride etiquette. Trail Navigators conduct on trail training sessions. If you’re interested in becoming a Trail Navigator you should regularly attend Club Night rides first and let your Trail Captain know you’d like to take navigation training.

Relaxed Group - A slower paced ride with lots of opportunities for learning. Navigators will train riders in trail etiquette, riding obstacles, and trail repair. Rests will be frequent, and at places where training will occur.

Intermediate Group - A medium paced ride with less frequent training/stops. Group members should know how to ride most obstacles with minimal impact, and repair most trail issues. These people should know when and how to use their throttle, a saw or a shovel.

Advanced Group - A fast paced ride where all members are qualified to ride hard sections of trail without getting hung up, and can repair any trail issues they may encounter. There should be a minimum of stops on this ride, and riders can effectively get to distant trails for specific repairs if needed.

Maintenance Group - A pre-arranged group with a specific goal for the night. It may be a small or large task, and riders should be able to reach a predetermined destination with little difficulty. Many hands make light work, and a good ride will happen after the specific task is accomplished.

Free Ride - A night that isn’t formalized. Use the existing thread to arrange rides on your own. It’s an opportunity to meet with others and maybe learn the map for yourselves. There will be no captain, no set staging location, but most likely, you’ll find someone to ride with.

We ride on MOST Wednesday nights throughout the spring and summer. McLean Creek is open to dirt biking from the first of May to the end of November. Spring Club Nights might be cancelled if the conditions are too wet. Evening rides need daylight and only run until mid-September. We have a five minute pre-ride meeting to kick off each Club Night ride to check memberships, sign waivers and take care of the logistics before we hit the trails.
